These loved up pairs have been kind enough to share their proposal stories with 77 World.
Today, we meet Basingstoke-based couple Jaimie Bettis, precision engineer, and Adriana Latacz, a purchaser, who just tied the knot in July.
The first meeting: The couple met three years ago on a blind date set up by mutual friends. “It’s crazy to think that I nearly didn’t accept the date,” exclaims Jaimie.
She’s the one: For Jaimie, marriage was not on his mind until he met Adriana. “I never wanted to get married, within the first month of meeting, that all changed. It was like a switch turned on,” he shares.
The proposal: Jaimie had planned to propose during a holiday in Jamaica last December, while staying at Sandals Ochi. To make the day special, Jaimie spent the day pampering Adriana with the delivery of tropical flowers to their hotel room, a lavish lunch by the pool, and a couples’ massage after a soak in a huge candlelit bathtub with champagne and rose petals. In the evening, as a decoy, Jaimie suggested they dress up for dinner at a nice restaurant.
“A boat was waiting to take us on a private cruise down the coast to watch the sunset over the west side of the island. When we arrived back and disembarked, Adriana could see an arrangement of lanterns and candles on the beach. Written in the sand was, ‘Will you marry me, Adriana?’, shares Jaimie. He then dropped down on one knee and as Adriana is Polish, recited his proposal to her in Polish. “I was so nervous that when I neared the end of my speech, I had to start all over.”
The ring: Jaimie selected a bespoke version of 77 Diamond’s Pirouette ring in platinum with alternating diamonds and sapphires. “I added the sapphires to the design as blue is Adriana’s favourite colour; I also chose a diamond with strong blue fluorescence for the same reason! The stone I chose is a beautiful round brilliant, triple excellent 1.11 carat diamond. It was truly perfect and she loved it,” he says.
The wedding: The wedding took place in July in Poland and the couple mixed English and Polish traditions. Shares Adriana, “We were married in a beautiful little church in Poland with over 100 guests. One of the highlights was the fire-show in the evening and dancing until five in the morning.”
